Who Qualifies for ICT?
Three categories of transferees under the ICT program
Executives
Senior executives who direct the management of the organization
- Directs the enterprise or a major component
- Establishes goals and policies
- Receives general supervision from higher executives or the board
Senior Managers
Managers of managers, supervisors, or functions
- Manages the organization or a division/function
- Supervises and controls professional employees or managers
- Has authority over hiring, firing, and other personnel actions
Specialized Knowledge Workers
Employees with proprietary knowledge of the company's products, services, or processes
- Possesses advanced expertise in the organization's operations
- Knowledge not readily available in the Canadian labour market
- Knowledge is essential to the Canadian operation
Key Requirements
Employee Requirements
- Employed by the foreign company for at least 1 year within the last 3 years
- Employment must be in a similar executive, managerial, or specialized knowledge capacity
- Coming to work in the same capacity at the Canadian operation
Company Requirements
- Qualifying corporate relationship between foreign and Canadian entities
- Relationship types: Parent company, Branch, Subsidiary, or Affiliate
- Canadian operation must have physical premises
- Both entities must be actively conducting business
